Urgent Internal Vacancy Announcement in Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) – Logistics/Project Driver

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a legally registered incorporated Trustees, a women-led, local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) seeking applications from qualified internal candidates to fill the Logistics/Project Driver position. This recruitment aims to identify staff who will work with WEWE to achieve its strategic objective of preventing and caring for survivors of GBV.

WEWE’s strategic objective for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is to eradicate all forms of violence and discrimination based on gender. This involves implementing comprehensive interventions to prevent, respond to, and address GBV. The objective aims to create safe spaces, provide support services for survivors, raise awareness about GBV, and engage communities in fostering a culture of gender-sensitive behavior.


WEWE wishes to recruit internally a talented and God-fearing Logistics/Project Driver who believes in local organizations, that not all Nigerians are corrupt, but instead believes in the ingenuity of the Nigerian and that the best of the Nigerian can be better than the rest.  

Position:        Logistics/Project Driver

Location:       The successful candidate will be based in Abuja


Requirements:

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

§ Ensure punctuality and safe driving practices are adhered to according to WEWE and donor standards and regulations for both staff and guests.

§ Drive the Executive Director and family as requested by management.

§ Ensure timely conveyance of the Executive Director for official duties as instructed by the supervisor.

§ Ensure that project vehicles are strictly used for official duties.

§ Ensure you do not pick up any non-staff on the road, irrespective of your relationship.

§ Ensure you do not pick up staff for personal outings.

§ Ensure staff obtain approval from administration before the vehicle is taken out, this means signing the vehicle movement slip.

§ Ensure that the project vehicle is always cleaned and maintained

§ Work with the mechanic to ensure that the project vehicle is serviced as when due.

§ Ensure that seat belt is used by all in the vehicle before the commencement of trips.

§ Must ensure that you do not consume alcohol while on duty or shortly before duty.

§ Ensure that you do not make phone calls while driving, alternatively, drivers should use hands-free or Bluetooth to answer calls.

§ Ensure that you leave your phone on always.

§ Assist the admin in picking up official documents from courier services.

§ Assist the admin in project vehicle paper renewal.

§ Ensure project vehicles are refueled after 75% is utilized.

§ Do not empty the tank before refueling.

§ Ensure pre and post-fuel checks every day.

§ Ensure the fuel purchase ticket is properly filled and signed.

§ Ensure the vehicle log book is signed.

§ Ensure project vehicles are functional by servicing regularly to avoid engine breakdown and ensure the vehicle is kept secure, clean, tidy, and in good working condition at all times.

§ Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

§ A minimum of WAEC/SSCE is required

§ Trade Test in Driving & Mechanics

§ Valid Driver’s License/Competence Technical Certificate

 

Experience:

§ Proof of highway code and other driving training attended

§ Minimum of 2 years of cognitive experience

§ Good knowledge of computer skills

§ Ability to understand and follow road safety, security procedures, and road signs

§ Applicants must be familiar with the Abuja environment
